Shot throughout Canada and the United States, the War of 1812 is vividly recalled. Through a combination of historic recreations, archival images, paintings, drawings and maps, the audience is presented with a good overview of the various events of this period. The program looks at such historic figures as Tecumseh, General Proctor and Sir Isaac Brock. It was a war that was fought by British regulars and Canadian militiamen. The war laid the basis for a new nations among the citizens of Upper and Lower Canada. The film is presented from an unbiased viewpoint and summarizes the importance of this war for Canada and the movement toward Confederation.
